In order to stimulate interest in the wealth of exciting possibilities that exist in the world of sport, the Fringe Games Organizing Committee will invite little-known, new, or unusual sports to participate in the Games as exhibition events. Where possible, these will be held in the main stadium in breaks between other events so they can be appreciated by the maximum number of people both at the venue and on TV. Exhibition events under consideration for the New Zealand Fringe Games include boomerang throwing, lure casting, kabbadi, spaceball, knur and spell, and Balinese pole climbing.
